The Garden at Elm Bank is a horticultural jewel of Greater Boston. A place of beauty, contemplation and exploration, the garden welcomes all for inspiration, reflection, and gathering with family and friends. We’re delighted to continue our partnership with the Massachusetts Horticultural Society to host the 5th annual Boston Haunted Walk!

The Boston Haunted Walk will once again be hosted at 10:00 AM on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at The Garden at Elm Bank located at 900 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA. This event is rain or shine! Registration is $25 for adults and children and current patients are free of charge. If you’re not able to join us in person, you can still walk virtually! All proceeds from the Boston Haunted Walk benefit Shriners Children’s Boston and support and advance world-class pediatric burn care, reconstructive plastic surgery and cleft lip and palate care, always regardless of families’ ability to pay or insurance status. We receive patient referrals from all over the United States and abroad. Our comprehensive family-centered approach combines the highest quality patient care with the most novel advancements in research. We value our affiliation with our medical and research partners at Massachusetts General Hospital. Together we are healing bodies and minds, treating the whole child and family with expertise, compassion and kindness.

4. Should I have a costume?2024-02-23T20:20:52+00:00

Family-friendly costumes are optional but always encouraged! Please make sure your costume is not gory, scary and doesn’t include balloons and confetti, which would harm the natural environment. Back by popular demand, we will have a costume contest for both children and adults so come dressed in your Halloween best! Winners will be announced online on Halloween!

5. How does the costume contest work?2024-02-23T20:21:33+00:00

The morning of the Boston Haunted Walk, we will have a table with staff collecting photo consents and taking pictures of everyone who wants to participate in the contest. The day after the event, Monday October 28, the Shriners Children’s Boston team will select their top 10 costumes, which will be available for everyone to vote on www.BostonHauntedWalk.org. An email from our team will let everyone in our network know when voting is open! Winners will be announced online on Halloween – October 31, 2024!

This year, your fundraising can be done on our new app that integrates directly with your peer-to-peer fundraising page. While you’ll need to register for the walk on BostonHauntedWalk.org, we have a new Shriners Children’s event app that brings all your fundraising functionality direct to your phone! The Boston Haunted Walk site is super easy to use when setting up your team and fundraising page! We have also put together an AWESOME fundraising toolkit for you! Access it here. By sharing your participation and fundraising goal with friends and family through email and social media, and by hosting your own fundraising events like cornhole tournaments or restaurant nights, you can inspire others to help our pediatric patients live the most fulfilling lives regardless of the challenges they may face through their healing journey! All registered walkers will receive a Boston Haunted Walk swag item! There will be day of event raffle prizes as well and a few more surprises! Raffle tickets can be purchased on event day at $20 for 10 and $50 for 25.

Yes, there will be light refreshments and non-alcoholic drinks for all participants. In addition, we will have a photo booth, face painting, and crafts project for kids of all ages, as well as sponsor tables with activities and takeaways for all.

Yes, there is ample parking at The Garden at Elm Bank! Signage and parking attendants will guide you to parking lots at the top of the hill!

Unfortunately, The Garden at Elm Bank does not allow any pets. No emotional support animals allowed. Please leave furry friends at home. If you have a medical need for a Service Dog, please contact us at BostonDonorRelations@shrinenet.org and we will try our best to make accommodations.

Yes, you may send an offline donation, please make your check payable to Shriners Children’s Boston, be sure to include in memo line Boston Haunted Walk and team or individual name you are supporting.

  • This event is rain or shine.
  • We encourage you to wear a costume but please keep it kid friendly, nothing too scary or gory!
  • Please help us in our work to keep the Garden at Elm Bank beautiful by staying on paths.
  • Refrain from climbing trees, stepping in gardens, or wading in pools.
  • No dogs, bikes, scooters or sports equipment are allowed in the Garden at Elm Bank (but riding your motorcycle to the event is perfectly fine and encouraged on a beautiful fall day!).
  • Respect the wildlife.
  • We have trash service for the Boston Haunted Walk, please be respectful and throw your trash in the bins provided!
  • Drones or any other form of UAV are not allowed on MHS’s property.

What does it mean to be a Boston Haunted Walk team captain?

As a Team Captain, your primary responsibilities are to:

  • Set a financial goal for your team – we recommend $2,500 but you can adjust up or down as you progress!
  • Set a goal to recruit team members from your network of coworkers, friends, and family members to register for the Boston Haunted Walk. There’s no limit to the size of your team!
  • Use the Shriners Children’s Boston Haunted Walk event app to send personal emails to recruit members, raise funds, or track your online donations. Encourage your team members to do the same by setting up their personal fundraising page within your Team!
  • Send regular updates to your team members encouraging them to set and surpass their fundraising goals!
  • Schedule time to check in with your team, meet for walks, and schedule a team kick off – take pictures and share them with us using #BOSHauntedWalk on social media!
  • Offline donations are accepted so have your team members send them to:
